Siri Is Now Gemini. Your Next Client Just Switched Search Engines Overnight.
The Signal: At WWDC 2026 (June 8), Apple rebuilt Siri on a custom Google Gemini model in a deal reported at roughly $1 billion per year. And iOS 27's new Extensions system lets users pick Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini as the AI behind Siri and Writing Tools. More than a billion devices just became AI-first. Public release this fall.
You finally got your SEO dialed in.
Page one for your niche. The dashboard is green. The monthly report from your marketing guy looks great.
Yesterday, Apple quietly turned that dashboard into a museum piece.
Not because Google search died.
Because the question box moved.
What Actually Happened Yesterday
At WWDC, Apple did the thing it swore it would never do. It put someone else's brain inside Siri.
The new Siri holds real conversations. It remembers context. It lives in a dedicated app where people can revisit old threads, like they do with ChatGPT today.
And the part almost everyone is underplaying...
iOS 27 ships with an Extensions system. Your clients will be able to open Settings and pick which AI answers for them. Claude. ChatGPT. Gemini. Right there, behind Siri and Writing Tools, on the device they touch 200 times a day.
Apple stopped trying to win the model war. It became the venue for it.
The Part Nobody Is Saying Out Loud
Here's the uncomfortable truth for coaches.
Your business was built on a specific assumption. That when someone hits a wall at 11pm, burned out, stuck, done pretending... they open a browser and type words into Google.
That assumption is what your website, your SEO, your funnel all quietly depend on.
Starting this fall, that person lifts their phone and just... talks.
Where the 11pm question goes now
No search results page. No ten blue links. One answer, from a model that either knows you exist or doesn't.
There is no page two of Siri.
The model either surfaces you, or you were never in the room.
Three Models. One Question. Zero Rankings.
And here's where it gets harder.
You don't even get to optimize for one algorithm anymore.
One client runs default Siri, which is Gemini. Another switched their Extension to Claude because their company uses it. A third put ChatGPT behind everything because that's what they know.
Same question. Three different brains deciding whether your name comes up.
The old game
Rank on Google
One algorithm. Keywords, backlinks, page one. Win the slot, win the click. The new game
Be legible to every model
Three frontier models in every pocket. You either exist clearly in their world model, or you don't exist.SEO asked: can a crawler find your page? The new question is: when a model describes your category, does it reach for your name?
What To Do Before September
The public release lands this fall. Betas are already in developers' hands. You have a window. Here's how I'd use it.
1. Run the Siri test today. Open Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. Ask each one: "Who should I work with as a [your niche] coach?" and "What is [your name]'s approach to coaching?" If the answers are vague or empty, that's your real ranking. Not the green dashboard.
2. Say one thing, everywhere, in the same words. Models learn entities through repetition and consistency. If your LinkedIn says mindset coach, your site says performance consultant, and your podcast bio says transformation guide... you are three blurry people instead of one sharp one. Pick the sentence. Repeat it until it's boring to you.
3. Publish the content only you could write. Models cite specifics. Your framework with a name. Your client math. Your contrarian take with receipts. Generic listicles trained the old algorithm. Specificity trains this one.
This is LLMO. It was a nice-to-have last year. Yesterday, Apple made it the whole game on a billion devices.
Your Move
Stop asking "how do I rank?"
Start asking "what do the models say when someone asks about my category... and am I in the answer?"
Your next client won't scroll past your competitor to find you.
They'll get one answer, spoken out loud, from the phone in their pocket.
Make sure it's your name.
